About the Purchase Manager Role

Salary Range: Up to ₹10 Lakhs per annum

  1. Strategic Procurement Planning:

    • Develop and implement procurement strategies to source materials and equipment effectively and cost-efficiently.
    • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, materials, and equipment relevant to the mechanical and engineering sector.
  2. Supplier Management and Negotiation:

    • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, ensuring consistent quality and reliability.
    • Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts to secure the best deals, while ensuring compliance with company policies and standards.
  3. Inventory and Cost Control:

    • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and inventory teams to prevent stock shortages or overstock situations.
    • Analyze purchasing patterns and costs to identify areas for cost savings and optimize the purchasing budget.
  4. Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure that all purchased materials and equipment meet the company’s quality standards.
    • Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any issues with defective or substandard materials.
  5. Risk Management:

    • Evaluate and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions and supplier reliability.
    • Develop contingency plans to ensure continuity of supply.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of all purchases, pricing, supplier contracts, and inventory.
    • Generate regular reports on purchasing performance, supplier quality, and budget adherence.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in purchasing or procurement, ideally within the mechanical or engineering industry.
  • Skills:
    • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
    • In-depth understanding of procurement processes and cost management.
    • Proficiency in procurement and ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Familiarity with quality standards relevant to mechanical and engineering products.
